Yaoyue Huang is a pianist whose initiative celebrates new music, lesser performed modern works, explores experimental projects that challenge convention and aims to break away from common performance practice. Huang has worked with composer peers from the United States, Japan, Korea, China, Singapore in premiering and commissioning their works. She was awarded the Prix Alberto Ginastera and Prix André Jolivet from the International Piano Competition of Orléans in France, where she commissioned works for the André Chevillion—Yvone Bonnaud composition prize.Huang is a co-artistic director of “Music X Habitat X Art”, an artist collective founded in 2019 on the idea of the livable, breathable “habitat” created from the marriage of the visual and auditory. She is a founding member of the Mendocino International Summer Music Academy in California, an annual two weeks summer festival started in 2023 in association with the Dharma Realm Buddhist University. She was co-artistic director of the 2019 Clara Schumann Project in Shenzhen, where her articles about Clara and Robert Schumann were published on several platforms including the 2019 season of the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra.Huang was prize winner in national and international piano competitions. She has performed at the Cincinnati Art Museum, The Farnsworth Art Museum, Shenzhen Poly Theatre, Shenzhen Grand Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Center, Xinghai Concert Hall, Haojiang Theatre, Ongaku- No-Tomo Hall in Tokyo, Nihon University at the Ekoda Campus Tokyo, White Rock Theatre in the UK, and Salle de l’Institut in France. Huang has also performed with the Lima Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Philharmonia, and the Michigan State University Symphony Orchestra. Shes was invited as a guest artist in Porto Pianofest, Classical Music Concert Series by Mackinac Arts Council, Music for All Seasons, Wave International Music Festival and more.Huang was invited as guest artist lecturer in Shantou University, Evergreen State University, Dharma Realm Buddhist University, and Meiling Arts High School.  Huang’s mentors includes Soyeon Kate Lee, Minsoo Sohn, Sandra Rivers, and Mei Xiao.
